Walking festival is just Scilly

IF YOU want to have the opportunity to take part in the UK’s most westerly walking festival - WalkScilly2010 – then you need to get your skates on as well as your walking boots, with booking levels for the festival well ahead of schedule and places going fast.

Driven largely by a new range of walks, and also coinciding with the Isles of Scilly Folk festival, there are more reasons than ever before to explore the wonder of the Isles of Scilly and enjoy the talents of local musicians.

Some of the themed walks at what is the fourth Walk Scilly Festival include ‘Tresco Coastal and Inland Wild Food Walk’, ‘Sing Peninnis’, Across the Sands to Samson’ and ‘Higher Moors Children Walk’.

To ensure that WalkScilly remains, by its very nature, a small and friendly festival, all of the walks are capped at 20 participants and graded by difficulty with something for everyone from seasoned walkers to absolute beginners.

And with the Festival coinciding with the Folk Festival, on many evenings there will be music to be heard from local bands including Six Wet Fish, who will feature at the opening night at event sponsor St Mary’s Hall Hotel.

“We are delighted with booking levels for this year’s festival, which keeps gets bigger and better every year. Our advice to anyone who was thinking about coming to the festival is to book now to avoid the risk of disappointment,” said Walk Scilly organiser Euan Rodger of Event Scilly.

As part of the festival, travel operators and accommodation owners have organised a range of special offers. For more information on the event, and a list of special offers visit www.walkscilly.co.uk
